To our 24 chosen founders. The Founder Institute Chapter in Dublin is well under way! Having carried through with some rapid public events over the past weeks, the effort has clearly paid off. Funnelling through some of the most promising 'soon-to-be' entrepreneurs to take that leap of faith, and apply themselves to the fullest. Hopefully these ladies and gents find their way in the minefield that is entrepreneurship. The next 3.5 months won't be easy. But the next 10 years that follow? Way harder! So gloves off. And game on :) Blockchain.
A topic where everyone from your grand aunt to your neighbourhood postman has an opinion (hashtag #trending). An infrastructural framework that promises to give so much. But what is it really, and is it as big as it's made out to be? As big as the dawn of the Internet? As big as the advent of the Cloud? Are you still confusing blockchain with bitcoin and can't tell the difference? Or perhaps you're a little further along but in need of some cold hard facts (How the heck do I get an ICO up and running!?) Pretty last minute, but we've got an exciting little get together tonight, 1st November, from 6.30pm at Dublin City Council's Woodquay venue. Bringing together some of the most exposed minds on the matter, we're so happy to be introducing: Charlie Sherlock of checkitsreal Greg Chew and Aidan Finn of QPQ Limited Guilherme Campos of ConsenSys and Mai Santamaria from the Irish Department of Finance. They'll be talking us through the various aspects shaping this game-changing field, closing with a full blown panel discussion. So see you later, and confusion be gone ;) The Art of the Pitch.
Depending on where you are in your professional career, there could be varying reasons to master the art of the pitch. Scenarios include: Pitching yourself at a job interview. Pitching an idea to a boss. Pitching a strategy pivot to your board. Pitching your business to a potential investor. Pitching your product to a potential customer. Pitching your spouse to buy the latest Tesla Roadster. No matter where you are on the ladder, the art of the pitch is something you'll count on time and time again throughout your life. If you're based in Dublin Ireland, we've got an amazing event this Wednesday evening (10th of October 2018 - Google Velasco Building) covering all aspects of the pitch, with particular emphasis on pitching to gain funding for your start-up. So what are you waiting for? Come join us to learn a thing or two, and get a couple of practice rounds going to get you started! I don't think i'm alone when I say the allure of entrepreneurship has, and will always be enticing! What could be better than striking it out on your own, being your own boss, and building an empire to call your own. But alas, life's not like that. It comes with all the flying no's, rejections, painful moments, and did I say even more rejections? Well if you're based in Dublin, Ireland, we're throwing a very special event covering a primary aspect of the entrepreneurship journey - taking that leap when starting out as an employee. This Thursday, as part of the Founder Institute Dublin Chapter, we'll be hosting 3 extraordinary CEO's who've decided to share their personal stories: · Sheena Bailey is founder and CEO of TestReach. https://www.testreach.com/ Prior to founding TestReach, Sheena was with Haughton Mifflin. · Toly Lebedev is the founder and CEO of Cesanta. https://cesanta.com/ Prior to founding Cesanta, Toly was with Google. · Fiachra O’Coimri was with Salesforce before he took the leap and has since founded several start-ups (Gordon Games, Pipeline Check). He is currently CEO at RenewalDiary. https://www.renewaldiary.com/ . If any of this speaks to you, we hope to see you there!
